I'm currently looking for a Model 100-type laptop. My choice seems to be narrowed down to either the Tandy M-102 or the NEC PC-8300 (an updated 8201A). The PC-8300 has 64K of RAM but no built-in modem (although there is a slot for one). Frankly, I'm impressed with the NEC hardware-wise, with its extra memory and improved word processor. However, I am concerned about software and hardware support. --Is an assembler/debugger avaiable for the 102? I've noticed that Radio Shack no longer advertizes the package. What about an assembler for the NEC? --Supposedly, the Tandy Portable Disk Drive (PDD) will work with the NEC, but does Tandy's disk drive software run on the NEC without modification? I appreciate your replies. Garet Nenninger TDC MIT
