[comp.sys.tandy] Need on info on Meodel 4 Tandy hard drive controller.

scheer@igloo.UUCP (Jon Scheer) (11/10/88)

Greetings, Hardware Hackers.

I just picked up a hard drive controller and a 5 meg hard drive for my
Model 4. The drive works (had it up and running on my xt clone). I was
told that the card doesn't work, but I'm willing to give it a shot. (I've
done some hardware hacking in the past) But what I need is some docs or
a manual or such.

Here's what I have on the board:
	Tandy Corp (C) 1982
	8709294 Rev A

Here are some of the chips it uses :
50 pin (!) chip, with the markings N8X300 and SA (?) as the manufact.
	3 MCM7681DC (24 pin, by Motorola) chips
	WD1100V-01 (West Digital) thru WD1100V-05
Plus a ton more misc TTL

   And :
There are 3 trim pots on the board
It looks like it can support 4 drives
	20 MHz crystal

This board mounted external from the system (the board is about 8 1/2
by 11). The problem: It used to work but now gives read/write errors (if
I remember correctly what the guy said). He wasn't sure if it still worked
or what, so I'm hoping to figure out how to hook it up (what sort of power
supply it needs, etc) and see what it does (or doesn't :-)

If you have any info, either post a reply or mail to the address listed
below. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS ADDRESS! Thank you.

Thanks in advance on any info.

Jon
