[comp.sys.tandy] Genie aka TRS-80

mark@trigraph.UUCP (Mark Woodward) (01/10/89)

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on the following...
I brought a system from the UK called a 'Video Genie', now you ask why is
this fool posting in comp.sys.tandy!!!. Well believe it or not this is
a clone of the TRS-80 Model I machine. Now I've finally got the beast
to work over here I want to get some use out of it. The question that
I have is this... 'Are there any clubs/BBS's out there that still support
such a machine??'
It's fully compatible with the TRS-80, a friend had the REAL thing
so we did a diff on the rom's and there was only 12 or so bytes different.
Radio Shack sued the company so they disapeared with the wind. They are also
compatible hardware wise.
So if anyone can help me I'd be more than pleased to here from you.
Also I'm using LDOS on it, cant remember what rev but if any one has the
manuals and some revision of it that they dont want any more then PLEASE
give me a shout. I also heard rumors in England about a LOBO hard disk
interface.... I would love to get my hand's on one of those.
	Thanx for Listening {reading}.

P.S. If this brought back some fond memories then drop me a line and we
can reminisce about the good ol' days of hack and slash computing :-)

The Club II BBS still supports TRS Mod I/III/IV. Also, a large collection of
TRSLINK magazines are online. Within those there are BBS lists with a large numbe
number of other systems, many of which are apparently TRS I/III/IV related.

The Club II only supports the Mod IV in Mod III mode.

Enjoy your TRS clone. So many people talk about IBM clones like it was a first-
do you remember all the TRS clones? The Max-80, the LNW, the Genie, the PMC-80.
Such fun!
