Last month I posted here asking for info on the 6000 because a friend of mine had the opportunity to buy one cheap. Well, he is now the proud owner of a 6000 with two Tandy terminals and a Tandy line printer (wide-carriage) all for the amazingly low price of $164.10 (sorry, there was only one :-(. Thanks to all of you who supplied us with info about the system. I've been told that the latest version of Xenix for the 6000 is 3.2. The system claims to be version 2.something so we are a bit behind the times. So now I'm trying to find out how we can equip it with: (1) a copy of the latest version of Xenix. (2) a copy of the latest version of the Dev. kit (3) an ST506 drive for as little money as possible. I've been told that (1) can be accomplished with a $100 upgrade from Tandy. Can anyone confirm this with direct experience or authority? I've been told that (2) is generally expensive but that there are copies to be had from warehouse sales or possibly from people with dead systems. Can anyone give me specific info? I looked through a Computer Shopper the other day and found many STnnnn drives but none where nnnn == 506. Where does one obtain such drives? We've pretty much given up on the idea of expanding the memory of the system beyond 1MB. It seems to be prohibitively expensive. Again I'd like to ask for replies via E-Mail. I will summarize on request (to the net if there is enough demand). -- "Everything I need to know I learned from watching Gilligan's Island."
