The following was just posted on CompuServe. Any comments, anyone? Sb: 4000LX/SCO support? Fm: jerry cohen 71640,223 To: All Tandy 4000Lx users SCO upgrade info needed! We have a tandy 4000LX, scsi, and sco 2.2.4. Tandy does not know if it is going to support the new 2.3.? releases necessary to keep up with the other SCO packages, such as vpix. Is there a new release that supports the scsi tandy devices and how do we get there? Any info will be greatly appreciated. I am about ready to dump this machine, only 4 mos. old and try to find a company that knows what it is going to do in terms of actually supporting its customer base. I have had a model II, and am now trying to move off our 12/6000 to the 386, but the total lack of support, even to direct questions, has left me feeling like I am dealing with some back-alley act! The comment about not knowing if future releases of sco came from a trouble-shooter in Mr. Roach's office, inresponse to a letter I wrote, so it is "official". They really don't know if they will continue to develop with sco, after we have bought their machines and promises. I'll get off my soapbox for now, but welcome any comments on this subject, especially concerning 2.3.x and how to get there. Thanks. SCO has already announced and plans to ship a version of 2.3 called 2.3GT for support of SCSI disks and other goodies. Tandy will, when it becomes available, pick up this version and offer it to our customers and an upgrade will also be available for those customers who have purchased 2.2.4. As far as Tandy's overall relationship with the Unix/Xenix community goes, we just jointly announced a new product in conjunction with SCO, DEC, Relational Technology, and Locus called Open Desktop. If there were any doubts about Tandy's strategy in the Unix market, this should have alleviated them. Roy Neese Tandy Computer Product Engineering UUCP @ {texbell, merch, killer}!cpe!neese

Look, I am not a support person and will not pretend to be a support person, but any questions that come across this group will probably get answered, as long as the info can be given without divulging anything proprietary.
