HELP!!! A couple of years ago, I purchased a Tandy 1200 HD with two floppy drives and without a hard drive. I think it's a great computer, faster than an XT and with no downtime since its purchase, until ... until I installed a Seagate ST412 hard drive. I got the drive in excellent condition from a working XT. Price was the major factor in getting the ST412, and there's no better price than free. Well, everything worked without a prob- lem for about two weeks, and then the Tandy refused to boot from the hard drive. I ran diagnostics, replaced the XT controller card, and ran into the same problem a few days later. Now, however, I'm getting an I/O error message for the 0 cylinder 0 head. Both controller cards are totally blown. I've tried them both in a working XT and I get the same I/O error message, but I know for sure the test drive is working since I've been using it in lieu of the Tandy. Any ideas and/or advice? I'd really like to get the 1200 up and running but don't want to pay Radio Shack prices for upgrades, and since I'm not using a Radio Shack hard drive and controller, they're not all that willing to help. E-mail can be sent to patburns@moore.seas.upenn.edu. Thanks!!
