Re: Taking apart DMP400 print heads. Well, the print head on this '400 started to malfunction (the top pin stopped striking), so I did take it apart. Believe it or not, after cleaning it with alcohol and reassembling it, I did reconnect it, but the head still didn't strike properly. I believe some silicon spray may have cured the problem after cleaning, but I bought a new print head. (I was doing a lot of bit-image graphics printing with the machine at the time for fun, so it was getting some hard use). They are *fine* little instruments that are mighty difficult to disassemble completely and then reassemble. I called a local company called Custom Cable, by the way. They'll make a cable corresponding to Radio Shack's part number which will supposedly work perfectly in connecting the DMP400 to the AT. I really just want to dump DOC files to the printer. I have so much on this AT already (Ventura Publisher, Aldus PageMaker, Q&A Technical Assistant, BOYAN 4.0 comm program, Wordperfect, etc........ -- about fifty megabytes of paid and PD software) with hundreds of pages of DOC files I want to get printed out. It's a 110MB hard drive, so I have enough room to last me a little while longer. Next thing to consider is making a backup.... -- Marcus wordproc@ucf-cs.ucf.edu
