[comp.sys.tandy] 1400LT CACHE program?

rlk@telesoft.UUCP (Bob Kitzberger @sation) (06/21/89)

The MS-DOS disk I got with my 1400LT came with a Tandy CACHE program ... and no
documentation on it at all. I've experimented and have gotten a disk CACHE of
30k (the default set up), but can't figure a way to increase the cache size.

Does anyone have documentation on this, or know how to increase the cache size?

Thanks,

	.Bob.

The word I get is that it is spelled out in the reference books that
Tandy sells separately from the LT... As you already have noticed,
the documentation supplied with the computer is really poor. You are
faced, for example, with buying either a $25 tech ref manual or a $40
repair man just to find out how to get inside and install an 8087!

BTW, I have tried running 5-6 applications with and without the cache
and can determine no speed advantage...

IF your CACHE program is the SAME one that came with my Tandy MS-DOS 3.3,
here is what I have learned:

at dos prompt: CACHE X - X = size of the cache
		CACHE (after installed) lists options
for example: CACHE/S shows cache stats.

I hope this helps and works for your cache program.
