Re: Question about finding a modem and term software for Model III.

I mistakenly bought Vidtex back when I was ignorant of term programs and didn't
know better. Can't remember what I paid for the package from Radio Shack (I
think I must have blocked it out of my mind).

Vidtex is fine but has no file transfer capability except ascii transfer, which
isn't very good for transferring programs.

A superb Model III public domain program is Lterm. This program runs under
TRSDOS or LDOS for the III and has Xmodem file transfer -- a necessity if
you want to build your software library and your computer's capabilities.

I bought a Tandy DCM-212 1200bd modem from Radio Shack a couple of years ago
for $129, which, at that time, wasn't a bad price. It works flawlessly in
Hayes mode on the III (there's also a Tandy mode on the modem, but I never
saw a need for it).

A good 2400-bd external modem would be outstanding on the Model III.

Any modem would provide access to the archiving programs and the
TRSLINK electronic magazine devoted to the Model I/III/4.
