[comp.sys.tandy] New Stuff From Tandy

reyn@trsvax.UUCP (08/04/89)

Tandy has announced several new machines this week:

1000 TL/2 - an upgrade to the 1000 TL with an IDE connector.
4000 SX - 16 MHz 386SX with built in VGA and IDE $2599.
  4020 LX - 20 MHz 386 with 1 MB of RAM $3999.
  4025 LX - 25 MHx 386 with 2 MB of RAM $4999.
Both the LX models have the Intel 82385 memory cache
controller, IDE hard disk support, and VGA graphics.

WP-2 - Imagine the model 102 an inch thinner with an 80 column by 8
line display. Now put a word processor, 100,000 word spell
checker and 200,000 word thesaurus in ROM, and paint it
black so it looks snazzy. Then add an optional disk drive
for saving files. (Oh yeah, I forgot the telecom stuff).
all for a measley $349.95 before options.

  Lotus Spreadsheet for DeskMate - a $219.95 version of 123 version 2.01
that uses the DeskMate GUI. (O.K. I know this isn't a
machine, but I have to plug DeskMate somehow!)

  1400FD - a flopply disk successor to the 1400, $1499.
  1400HD - hard disk successor to the 1400 with a 20 Meg HD, $2499.

As I have yet to see many of the above, this information is gleaned from
press releases and subject to my poor eyesight and miserable typing.

But wait, that's not all! If you act before midnight tonight, we'll
add pinstriping and dark window tinting to complete that snazzy look.
Just imagine the jealousy on your fellow passenger's faces as you whip
out your large black WP-2 right there on the plane! The shock! The
screaming! The women pointing! Be sure and ask for an isle seat so
you can really show it off!

All of this PLUS if you act now we'll add a lifetime memory, FREE!
Call us crazy if you will, call us wild, but just remember this: we're
the very same folks that not only brought you DeskMate, but also the
now-industry-standard 1500 baud cassette port for the Model III.

Oh yeah: :-)
