[comp.sys.tandy] MOUSE UPDATE

KUDLACEK@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu (12/28/89)

Well, unfortunately I am still having great difficulty installing my
new Tandy serial mouse. After building a DB-25 to DB-9 adaptor so
I could plug it in to the COM1: port (I have two ports on one card)
the F*#$ing computer still says that "MICROSOFT MOUSE NOT FOUND --
DRIVER NOT INSTALLED" when I run the MOUSE.COM program... When I took
the mouse to RADIO SHACK they hooked it up to one of their newer
systems (I have a TANDY 1000A) and the MOUSE.COM program located the
mouse right off!!! I am going crazy! By process of elimination, I
have determined that there must be a software compatibility problem
(possibly mouse hardware) and will try to find a different version
of mouse.com.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE TANDY SERIAL MOUSE????

Please send info!

Thanks in advance...

I have a TANDY 1000TL/2 with a logitek c7 mouse. I have it
hooked to the comm1 port and if I run mouse.com it also tells
me that the mouse driver is not installed. I belive from what
I have read that I must put the mouse driver in the config.sys
file for msdos to see the mouse. I will try this and let you
know if this works.

Portal never ceases to astound me - no matter what I go looking to find out
about, someone is already discussing it.

I'm a new acquisitor of a Tandy 1000SX computer for my fiancee, and she just
bought the "Arkanoid II" video game. The setup menu for the game asks what
input device you wish to use, but requires a "MicroSoft mouse or compatible,
and Microsoft-mouse driver software." From what I see here, it looks like
my question is already answered, but I'll ask anyway:

"Is there a way that I can make our existing Tandy Serial Mouse 'look
like' a Microsoft mouse-and-driver to software which requires that configura-
tion? If so, how?"

I've seen mention of "MOUSE.COM" -- what is that and what does it do? Is
it the Holy Grail I seek, namely, a driver that makes the Tandy mouse "look
like" a Microsoft mouse? If so, how do I use it (I see you guys are still
in the process of working THAT out)? And, finally, WHERE DO I FIND IT? Is
it something actually supplied by Radio Shack on the 1000SX disks, or is it
something PD that's downloadable from here on Portal?

Thanks in advance; reply via e-mail even if you also post here, as I am
not (yet!) a regular reader of this area.

(And to think I thought I might have to WRITE my OWN mouse driver...!)
