/* Written 9:12 am Jan 8, 1990 by utkux1.UUCP!wozniak in gak:comp.sys.tandy */ /* ---------- "Re: Tandy's new WMRM optical disc d" ---------- */ I think it may be phony. Tandy has been developing THOR, but it is a WORM drive and it sucks. I have had no lease information about any other drive, but I do know that THOR is behind schedule. -bryon- /* End of text from gak:comp.sys.tandy */ I was at a comdex a year or so ago when Tandy announced THOR. The announcement said it was a many time (if i recall right, there was no limit listed/expected (wish i kept the announcement!)) read/writeable disk that was to be full CD compatable. Audio was the expected first use, with CD-ROM comming later. At the time they expected product 2 years later ( i WISH i could remember WHEN exactly the announcement was!). At the time it was a 'technology' announcement (more for the disk itself and not the player/recorder), & they had a way to do it. They said it would take the 2 years to patent, refine it, license it, and get hardware designed & built (most likely by a japan or korean company/unit). I will admit i have not heard much since then. I have not seen or heard of a demo/sample (sucking or otherwise!). Gary Kueck (texbell!techsup!gak)
