Can anyone suggest a good mail order source for Tandy products? Specifically, I am looking for additional memory for a Tandy 4000. Thanks. --rb

It had 2mb on motherboard and I added 8mb on memory card. I purchased the 8mb from a local store NOT radio shack. From what I have seen/heard/talk-to you can use standard simm modules as long as they fit. The only problem you will have is obtaining an expansion memory board. You must buy the board from radio shack. Everyone I talked to said that memory expansion boards that are 32 bit interface have special interface (pin out) for each manufacture. The other problem you may have, is that you only have a limited number of memory configurations. You can have 1mb - 4-256k simms on mother board 2mb - 8-256k simms on mother board 4mb - 8-256k simms on mother board + 8-256k on exp board. 8mb - 8-1mb simms on mother board 10mb - 8-1mb simms on mother board + 8-256k on exp board. 16mb - 8-1mb simms on mother board + 8-1mb on exp board. You might be able to find another manufacture that would allow less than full population on the expansion board, but I looked for several weeks with no luck. Having 10mb is quite nice. Our sco xenix system (after 2 weeks up) has 0 pages swapped in/out. A good indication that we have more memory than we need. Hope this helps. The store I purchased the memory from was Golden state comp. at 209-638-6381, in case you can't find a distributer for memory. -- Jim Carter (Sequoia Contact Lens,1355 11th Street,Reedley,CA,93654) {...!csufres!csuf3b!ic2020!jim} 209/638-3939, Fax 209/638-5433 -- Jim Carter (Sequoia Contact Lens,1355 11th Street,Reedley,CA,93654) {...!csufres!csuf3b!ic2020!jim} 209/638-3939, Fax 209/638-5433
