I have a simple question that might not have a simple answer. I have worked on IBM clones for awhile but haven't run across a Tandy yet. But I have been asked twice now if a 3.5" Floppy drive for an IBM would work in a Tandy 1000. I would assume there might be driver problems. Can anyone give me any help that has installed a 3.5 floppy and maybe give me a quick run down of what is hardware compatible between the Tandy and IBM (if anything). I was wondering what the reason for the incompatibility of the Tandy is. Is it the Bios or does it not have a standard AT bus? Or do devices just not physically fit. Any responses can either be emailed or posted as I check the news often. Also quick responses would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, a Tandy 1000 can use 720K 3.5" drives. You need a drivparm statement if you're running Tandy's MS-DOS 3.2. No other modifications are necessary - except that the BIOS should be up-to-date. Any 720K drive should work... --- George
