I have a Tandy Model 3000 for which I have just purchased an
expanded memory card. The mail order Radio Shack store (MaryMac on
GEnie) from which I bought the card cleverly failed to mention the
lack of driver software for the 3000 series. They told me there was
no supporting software only *after* I bought the board.
MaryMac suggested that I call Tandy in Forth Worth. The phone was
answered promptly by someone who confirmed that there is no EMM.SYS
driver for the 3000.
The board can be used as-is for Tandy's VDISK.SYS and SPOOLER.SYS
but applications like Microsoft Windows and Quattro require a
memory management driver. I have tried the drivers supplied with
Windows/286 (which, incidentally, was purchased from Radio Shack)
but they do not work with the Tandy board. Neither does TEMM.SYS
supplied with Tandy's version of DOS 3.2.
1. Does anyone know anything about the availability of an expanded
memory management driver for the Tandy memory expansion board?
2. Windows supplies drivers for AST Rampage and Intel Above Board.
Has anyone used either of these in a model 3000?
3. Has anyone successfully used expanded memory of any sort on a
Tandy model 3000?

I have an original Tandy 3000HL. I have in it an AST Rampage with 1 meg of RAM. The board comes with the expanded memory driver. I've used it with DesqView without incident. Ditto with Quattro Pro. So the same should be true if you were to install a board like this into your Tandy 3000... --- George -- "People think I'm some moron who drives a Trans Am" - Burt Reynolds "Make mine a GTA!" - Me
