[comp.sys.tandy] BIOS Roms and Hard Disks - A Question...

kellyk@bcarh340.bnr.ca (05/28/90)

Here's a question that I can't seem to get a straight answer from the Tandy
guys here in Canada, soooooooooo...

I have a Tandy 1000A (note the A!!), with 640K, 1 serial card, and 2 360K
floppies. I have decided to use my last precious slot for a Miniscribe 3765
(65 meg RLL or 40 Meg MFM, i believe). According to a recent discussion in
this group, I am led to believe that my BIOS roms (ver 01.01.00 (c) 1984,1985)
will support this hard disk and I have found a controller that can be made
"Tandy-compatible" with a few jumpers. Have I missed anything? Am I in
the clear? Can I buy this card and bring my Tandy into the 20th century?
If I could get an answer from one of those neat guys in Tandy tech support,
or someone else who is knowledgeable about Tandy 1000A's, I would be very
grateful.
