I have a tandy 1000SX that does not want to work with either of my internal modems. One is a Packard Bell 1200, the other is an Omnitel 2400. I try installing the modem, and when I boot the machine nothing happends. The people at Tandy told me that the 1000SX will accept *ANY* standard slot card. A friend of mine, who has done a bit of service on tandy products explained that despite what Tandy has to say, the bus on the 1000SX is NOT a standard one, and will only accept *standard* Tandy cards. I bought this machine to put a modem in it. I have a spare external modem I can hook up, but the 1000SX lacks a serial port, and tandy wants some god awful amount ($80) for a serial card. They (Tandy) told me that if a standard PC slot card would not work in it there is something wrong with the machine and I should bring it in for repair. At this point, I'm rather annoyed, and not sure what to believe. so, if you've put regular modem in a 1000SX would you please mail me explaining how to do it? The 1000SX came with no manuals, and tandy never called me back like they said they would when they got more in. Also, if you know for a fact that non-tandy cards won't work, I'd like to hear from you as well.. My address is stokes@ai.mit.edu Thanks
