[comp.sys.tandy] dmp420 escape sequences...

fzsitvay@techbook.com (Frank Zsitvay) (09/01/90)

could someone post the dmp420 excape sequences??? (the stuff that
makes the printer do all kinds of neat things...

also, for characters with the high bit set, what does the printer
print?? reverse characters or graphic symbols??

My situation: Radio Shack wants to charge me $9 for a copy
of the dmp420 owners manual. All i want is a bloody list of escape
sequences so i can use the printer with most of its capabilities.

i don't need another manual around here that explains how to feed
the paper through the printer, all the nifty things a printer can do
for your computer, and the stupid, pointless warrentee information on the
inside cover that explains that the thing isn't warranted for "suitability
for a particular purpose" when the printer is so far out of warrantee as
it is.

All i need is a list of the escape (or control) sequences. also, if the
thing has a graphics mode, i'd like to know how to utilize that, too.

You might say "gee, Frank, just go down to your local Radio Shaft and
ask them if they could photocopy that page of the manual for you??" well,
i tried that, and they told me they can't do that. if i want the information,
i need to buy the manual. their claim was due to copyright problems. mind
you, they had a dmp420 in the back room, and showed me what the manual looked
like, but wouldn't let me thumb through it. also, since radio shack owns
the copyright to the manual, then can't they legally copy it in the store??
or do they just want $9 from me so i can have the privelege of using one of
their out of date printers????

i think $9 is a little obscene for a booklet to a printer that they don't
even make any more, especially since i don't need the whole manual, just the
page or two with the bloody information. if i'm so stupid that i can't
figure out how to feed the paper into the printer, then i'd buy the
manual.
