[comp.sys.tandy] 9-track tape i-face for 16B/6000 series

jmh@coyote.uucp (John Hughes) (09/12/90)

I am trying to round up info on how one might go about connecting a
9-track tape unit to a Tandy 16B Xenix system. The hardware end of
it appears straightforward, but I have no idea about how to:

1 - set the addressing
2 - establish an interrupt (if any)
3 - write a driver that Xenix 3.02 will agree with

and of course, I have absolutely no idea if this is even possible
or feasible. It would be really nice, though, to be able to connect
a tape drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

ps. - I didn't mention hardware specifics since I'm assuming that I'll
have to wrap an interface card myself. So I figure that whatever I can
get that'll work (probably an old DEC drive or a Kennedy) will do the
job. Wow, wouldn't it be cool to have 3 or 4 of the old monster STC
drives hooked up to the 16B... :-)
