[comp.sys.tandy] Putting a Sota 386/Express in a Tandy 1000TL

demoydk@iitmax.IIT.EDU (The White Lord) (12/04/90)

And speaking of upgrading the Tandy 1000 TL as far as microprocessor is
concerned...I am wondering if its possible to have shadow RAM implemented
in a TL. Now I know that with the basic utilities given in the system
disks do not support, but just suppose if its possible by accessing such
a function by changing the EEPROM by using SETUPTL.COM with the /B flag...

Just a wonderin' since in that mode of SETUPTL.COM it shows the setup
and I noticed lots of 0 bits on register set 26 to 36 and 44 to 63.

And speaking of registers in the BIOS setup, what exactly are each of these
useful for?

					YDK...

P.S. Don't use SETUPTL.COM to the point of being careless...if you use that
setup program with the /B and the /A settings, theoretically speaking, you
can disable (and hope is nonexistent - theoretically) your TL from using
anything (like the video, parallel, or floppy imbedded chips). DON'T TRY
THIS AT HOME OR AT SCHOOL OR AT WORK!!!
