The Moondog mail-based file server (or MMBFS, as we refer to it around here [with a smirk, of course]) will be curtailing operations for the next couple of weeks while several more hard drives get added to the venerable 16B. So far the system has been upgraded to 2.25Mb of RAM, a new floppy drive, and 3 more serial ports, but the hard drives it has now have got to go. You will still be able to request the srvlib text files (all that fun stuff on hardware upgrades and such), but the arc and tar directories will be removed for a while. The 16B executables will also vanish for a bit (if you really need one of the executables, send mail to 'archive' as described in the instructions and we'll try to help you out). All this swapping and soldering should be completed by the first part of January. Also, thanks to Monty Schmidt (formally of Mundane fame) we will have some ported software and additional hardware mod info on-line. Try sending a request for the index around Jan. 15 or so. Thanks. ps. Until the mail system can be fully upgraded with something like smail the 'path' directive will be inoperative (the MMBFS doesn't have the foggiest idea what an internet address is). -- | John M.
