Greetings! I have just inherited a Tandy Model 16B system, and am in need of any assistance you can give me with it. It looks like a nice machine and I would like to get some use out of it, but I have no documentation or system disks, and it boots directly into a turnkey business application from which I can find no way out. I am not sure of the exact configuration of the system - a glance at the contents of the card cage showed what seems to be a CPU board, two RAM boards, a disk controller board, and a video board. It has two serial ports, one parallel port, an 8" disk drive, and a 15MB hard drive. The only indication of configuration I can find is two stickers on the back that say "128K RAM kit installed" and "128K option kit installed". The machine boots directly into a turnkey business application system; it goes through a few things, then proceeds right to the login screen. According to that screen it is "RM/COS 2.6.05 8/22/88". I only know the password to one account, and that is a user's account which can only use the menu system. I can't find any way to break out of the menu. There's also an account called "UPDATE" but I have no idea of the password. I would like to make some productive use of this machine for something other than what the previous owner used it for. :) Unfortunately, with no docs or system disks this seems a bit difficult. :) So, if you know anything about this machine... how to break out of such an application, where to get a system disk, where to find documentation... please send me mail. Thanks!!! --Rob
