[comp.sys.tandy] Putting a Seagate HD in an Tandy TX

RFM@psuvm.psu.edu (04/24/91)

One of my students has a Tandy TX. She wants to know if she can put a Seagate
20-meg hard drive in that box -- an ST225; I think she has access to a
WD 8-bit controller card as well. Can this bedone?

Substitute 30 meg for 20 meg and you have my exact configuration.

Do you mean the 1000TX? Yes, it's very simple to do. Just plug in the
controler and mount the drive in a floppy bay. Make sure you set The bank
of of 4 switches so that #2 is OFF. This'll make your 1000TX run the hard
drive from IRQ5 instead of Tandy's wonderful choice of IRQ2. One caution:
The power supply is not made to carry more than 1 hard drive. Don't accept
any offers from Tandy to "reset" the power supply so that it will unless you
like the smell of burning drive motors.
