NETWORKING TRS-80 I am looking for information concerning the possiblity of networking the old trs-80s'. Questions: 1. Is it possible install network cards in the existing motherboards? 2. Is it possible to remove the original motherboard and replace with a new 286 or 386 motherboard? Any information would be helpful. jbarger@vdoe386.vak12ed.edu

I've just bought a new Tandy 1100FD Laptop. I must say that I've been quite impressed with the Deskmate software included with it. To say the least, it packs quite a punch for a couple of 720K diskettes. To the point, I'd like information sources about this computer. Specialty magazines (equivalent to say PC mag, Byte, etc) for this system, accessories (H/W, S/W tied to this platform) esp. add-on drives(floppy, Hard-drive?). Patrick F.L. If you are referring to networking Model 1/3/4, Corvus systems had a hard drive system which could be networked. It is no longer made and can possibly only be found in museums now. If you are referring to the Tandy IBM clones, yes, the boards can be changed for a 286 motherboard. Make sure the power requirements are adequate. It may be better to replace the computer than upgrade it. Back to the model 1/3/4, I have never seen a card for them to interface to an IBM network if that is what you meant. Holmes engineering may be the only company that might have made an attempt, but I have never seen such a device. They did make a card-cage for the model 1, so its a long shot of a possibility. Steven
