[comp.sys.tandy] Parts, memory, hard drives for Tandy 1000

mark@vaxb.acs.unt.edu (06/10/91)

Hello,

A few months ago, I had posted a series of questions about a TANDY 1000 (yep,
the PC Jr. compatible one) computer. Well, I am back.

1. Where can I get the most recent version of the BIOS for it? How much is it?

2. What about specific places to order the RAM chips needed for a memory
upgrade to the machine? It has a expansion card in it that is made up of a set
of four chips, with 12 empty sockets in it (128K on the machine itself, 128K
divided among 4 chips on the exansion board). I think I figured out that the
card when fully populated would bring the machine up to 512K, does this sound
like the type of exansion cards Tandy used to sell? I need a full 640K to run
the latest MS-DOS version, so what do I do. The RAM chips have the part number
of 4067-15 on them. Are these 64 x 1 or 32 x 4 or what???

3. Hard drives for the machine are a remote possibility, but could someone
recommend a good place (new or used) to get a hard drive for the machine at a
CHEAP price? A hardcard would do also.

Thanks for the help, I just need address/telephone numbers this time if at all
possible.

If you have some equipment that you would be interested in getting rid of
(working perfectly, please) let me know!
