[comp.sys.hp] thinkjet and international character set

jdf@pbhyc.UUCP (Jack Fine) (01/19/87)

Can anyone tell me how to software select the different international
character sets on the hp thinkjet printer. You can set the hardware
switches in the back to correspond to different inter. sets but for
end users that may have to switch back and forth this is a bunch of
trouble.

Thanks for the help.

The news you did not want to hear is, you can't. There is no escape
sequence to select the ISO sets that you can select with the dip switches.

An alternative might be the Roman8, all switches down, character set. It
has all the international characters defined. The catch is that the
character codes are different than in the ISO sets.
