[comp.sys.hp] uucico fix is here for 9000/840

mark@cogent.UUCP (Captain Neptune) (04/30/87)

There was a reported bug in uucico on the HP 9000/840 running HP-UX where
after 30 file transfers all further transfer requests are rejected.
This bug was indeed happening to me and we lost a good deal of news as
a result (our newsfeed sends us batches which are occasionally made up
of more than 30 seperate files).

Happily, the bug has been corrected and our support person at HP (can't
recall your exact title, sorry Mike :-) sent to us a tape of the corrected
uucico. The tape label appears to imply that some internal table was
set to 30 and is now bumped up to 200. That should be enough for me.

The reason that I am posting this is this: if any of you out there have
had problems with a choking uucp as well as me, then this is probably the
fix you need. I imagine that the fix will be in the next HP-UX update
(HP people, is this right?), but if you need it sooner, you might want
to contact your HP person and see if they can't perhaps get ahold of the
fix for you as well.

I don't know if they'd want me to send my corrected copy of uucico to anyone,
so I will not make the assumption that I can do so. Consequently, please
do not ask me for a copy.
