Does anyone have info on (cheap) disks or tape drives for the HP 9000 / HP-UX series ? We are looking for large disks (e.g. ~300 Mb) and real tape drives (no casettes) and would appreciate hints on whether/how these can be obtained at lower prices than HP's. Since the HP-IB bus is an IEEE standard, one would think that a lot of hardware should be available. Please reply by mail - I'll summarize upon request. Well, the IEEE-488 bus may be standard, but the CS80 protocol is HP proprietary. Maybe you could reverse-engineer it by analyzing the HP-IB traffic?-- \def\tml{Tor Lillqvist, Technical Research Centre of Finland} tml@fingate.bitnet == tml@santra.uucp == mcvax!santra!tml

Given the price of the HP 9-track drives, lots of folks might like to hear a summary of the replies you receive.
