[comp.sys.hp] hp calculators, history

It is sad to hear that my creation might be too late to help anyone.
Ever since I got onvolved with it, I was thinking to myself that by the
time I finished it, no one would be using the things anymore. Well, I wasn't
entirely wrong. One of the reasons why the 41c has lasted as long as it has,
is the incredibly good design. The ability to enhance the machine through the
ports made it a machine that could take advantage of future developments. When
you think about it, the hp41 has changed very little if at all, since the
original was put out. The newer versions are just the old version with some
modules built in.
I must be one og hp's best calc customers, since I have purchased
the following calculators in past years:
	hp33e
	hp67
	hp41c
	hp16c
	hp41cx
	hp28c
hp28s (as soon as I can convince my wife that I need another one!!)

Over the years, I've sold off the 41c and hp67. As you can see, I stick
solidly by hp products. They are the best made (and best in general)
calculator in the world. About two years ago, I was having trouble with
my hp33e. I sent it to hp explaining that even though I owned a 41cx, I
treasured my old work-horse, and that I would pay anything to get it
back in working order. Three days later, I get it back express mail, no
bill! They replaced the display, keyboard, switches, battery pack, and logic.
The only thing that was original was the case! And to think that it was only
about 7 years out of warranty! That's what I call customer support! Of course
if you DO have to pay for hp service out of warranty, they nail you big-time.
Like, $60.00 to fix an $80.00 calculator! All in all though, I consider hp
to be one of the nicest companies to deal with, and a product line to match.
