from: robert harrison uucp address harrison@ncifcrf.gov Help, Being largely a DEC shop, but having become feed up with some of DEC's latest policies, we have come to the conclusion that some sort of UN*X box would be a useful way to improve our computer complex (can't quite call it a cluster). One of the stronger contenders is an hp835 in some incarnation. Unfortunately, communications with our DECNET LAN seems to be highly impracticle. HP's solution is to bend the DEC machines which is not a real possiblity as most of them don't belong to us. In addition DECNET does some very nice things like allowing us to assign a file on a remote node to a logical unit on the current node, and it would be nice to be able to do a ln -s in the same manner. Does anyone know of a third party product, or an HP product which would allow a more or less native mode DECNET? We really need to bend the HP machine, not everything else in our LAN. Thanks
