After installing a few public domain software programs on my HP9000/350, I noticed that there were only a few differences between the BSD and HP-UX versions of UNIX (at the programming level at least, I don't care about opsys diffs). These differences were different random number generating routines and different names for some of the include files. It seems to me that these could be fixed up kind of easily, since you can link the include files together, and write a random number generator that was called the same thing as under BSD. Is there some kind of logistical / political reason why this can't be done? ********************************************************************* Tony Burzio * HP Computers...
