I'm trying to hook up a Telebit Trailblazer+ to a HP9000/370 via
a 98642 mux (port 0). This is the 25-pin port on the '42. The
problem is that I cannot seem to get the modem and the system
to agree on how hardware handshaking should work. The modem seems
to work ok at LOW (cough,sputter) speed using XON/XOFF, but that is
unacceptable for high-speed transmissions. I have a pair of the TB's,
and a pair of phone lines, so testing isn't a problem...
The configuration that I've come up with so far is:

S09=006 Carrier Detect Time
S47=004 DSR Delay Time
S48=001 Eight Bit Comparison
S50=000 Transmission Mode
S51=254 Interface Speed

S53=000 DCD and DSR Interpretation
S58=001 Flow Control Used By DTE (System)
S60=000 Data Format
S66=000 Lock Interface Speed
S67=000 CTS Interpretation
S68=255 Flow Control Used By DCE (Modem)
S92=001 Answering Sequence Selection
S110=255 Data Compression Enable
I need to know:
a) How do I configure the modem? Regs 52, 53, 58, 67, and 68
will have to be configured, but what values?
b) How are the /dev's created under hp-ux 6.2, ie, what bits
do you set with the mknod?
c) Any special tricks with cables?
d) How about using the 9-port builtin 98644 in the main system
cabnet? Any problems there?
e) Is there a difference in the configuration between dialing
out from the modem and answering in?
