I am currently evaluating a product called 'Grafit', by a company called Graphicus, and I need some help from those of you who may have had the same problem I am currently stuck with. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the product, which we have running on an 800 series under HP-UX, it is an end-user graphics generation package which is built on top of Starbase. It provides a pretty simple to use command language for creating graphs of all kinds, and is very flexible. But.... When trying to generate hard copy to a Laserjet II or our line printer ( I think it is an HP2564B, but I could be wrong ), all we get is a large, densely printed black square. Repeated calls to Graphicus indicate they are stumped. We are running the demo which is given in the tutorial, which is quite simple. The printers are both serial, and are cabled to a mux, and work perfectly as line printers. On the off chance that this has happened to you, or if you have suggestions, I would appreciate any responses ( you out there, Graphicus? ). Phone conversation with their tech support indicates that I have configured the printers correctly ( as far as procedures outlined for the 'configit' program go ). Statistical analysis of data at a rudimentary level, plus the ability to interactively create, label, etc. presentation graphics ( bar charts, histograms, x/y plots, pie charts ) and SEND TO A PRINTER is what we need. We would be really happy if the product would provide an interface to HP ALLBASE, but we can write code to get to the data if needed. Grafit does the above nicely...it's a shame it doesn't show except on a graphics crt!
