[comp.sys.hp] Statistical Analysis for Factory Automation Wanted

uccjcm@ecsvax.UUCP (John McLendon) (03/20/89)

I am looking for a package that will allow me to track test values
produced by test stations on a factory floor. Requirements are for
a system to run on a server networked to various test machines (currently
hp 9000/360's running hp-ux) that can provide graphical displays of
basic product tracking statistics. This means:
1) Basic statistical capability; paretos, linear regression, t-tests,
means, medians, s. dev., variance, possibly some curve fitting.
Ability to generate as well as display data would be highly
   valuable.
2) Graphical plotting capability under X11R2 (X11R3 in the future).
It's okay for now if xterm or some other emulator is used, although
in the future we will require native X capability. Expected plot
types range from linear to log and semi log.
3) High level input (and output). I don't want to screw around with
some kind of fixed data format. I'm reasonable about this, but I
don't want something where I can't, say, feed input from a pipe
instead of a file. Networking capability is a definite plus here.
4) Interfaces to one or more of the major databases. If the product
has a decent internal database, okay. Expected queries are things
like "Plot the means for component X for product Y for week Z",
and "Is the failure rate for product X for week 1 different than
for week 2?" You get the idea, product tracking at the component
and product level. Additionally, I want plotting capability
for some minor scientific type plots, hence the log & semi-log plots.
If you've got what I'm looking for (or even think you do), call me
at (919) 941-5730 during the hours of 1-4pm EST. I'll be happy to explain
my application in greater detail. Of course, Sys V capability is required.
				Thanks,
				John...
