In article <4650011@hpiacla.HP.COM> you write: >#ifdef CAUTION >Ah, but be Careful, my Dear Factory Fellows - >#endif > >As for your questions, Rob, some of them can probably be >safely answered (but alas, I don't know the answers). It seems to me that the five year product support is true with respect to hardware, but as software products are supported on particular versions of O/S releases, these are somewhat more ephemeral. As HP ISV's, we have one of everything ... ie: HP3000 M39 (MPE V Delta 2.0) HP3000 S925 (ON ORDER) HP9000 S540 (HPUX 5.1 since 5.2 has bugs) S350 (HPUX 6.2) S825 (HPUX 3.01) As you can imagine, software support is not only expensive, but confusing. Since we want to support products under the most prevalent configuration wrt to most sites, a timely channel to developers directly from the factory can help us to make project scheduling/release schedules etc. In addition, were the factory to post planned changes, perhaps some feedback from the customer base would be useful. This network may be an inappropriate channel for same, but I would be happy to dial direct for such info. As for those HP employees who risk wrist-slapping, thanks! comments ?? how about from management types ?? rss -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= rob sciuk utzoo!yunexus!maccs!innovus!rob innovus inc. 204-200 James St S.
