[comp.sys.hp] Wollongong TCP/IP problems

dunlap@apl-em.UUCP (John Dunlap) (06/24/89)

I have purchased the Wollongong TCP/IP for the HP-9000 series 500.
I wonder if anyone has the same difficulty I have.
The command:

        remsh remote_host cat < local_in > local_out

does not run correctly on my model 550 running HP-UX 5.21.
Most of the time it hangs when then file "local_in" is
about 7 Kbytes leaving the "local_out" file at 5120 bytes.
Sometimes it completes correctly.

The same behaviour is noted when "remote_host" is replaced with "me".
The same command (rsh on BSD 4.3) runs fine with the Wollongong/HP
rshd (daemon).

I have tried it with and without the 5.15 segment 10 update and
obtained the same results. Wollongong has exactly the same
system with a model 540 and we cannot figure out what is different.

The command without the output redirection works fine to the screen.

        remsh remote_host cat < local_in
