I am becoming increasingly irritated at the failure of the two N-cells in my Hp-150 Touchscreen to preserve the CMOS memory. I have been cleaning contacts and terminals and replacing batteries rather frequently this past year and I am getting tired with all this maintenance and having to restore the configurations and reset the time, et cetera. I am seriously considering installing a lithium battery inside to (hopefully) relieve me of these chores. Has anyone else done this? JJD onymouse@netcom.UUCP

We have an HP150 that is used quite a bit. It is at a remote location, one which happens to lose power more often than the average "business system" does -- typically 30-45 times a year, for anywhere from a few seconds to 4-5 days (although the latter is rare!). We use Eveready Energizer alkaline N size (No. E90) and have had to replace them only once since the unit was installed (in 1984). We have the "original" HP150 -- the one with the small screen. I would assume that if you could find a lithium "N cell", then it would by definition be OK since I assume that "N cell" implies certain minimum electrical characteristics over time (in addition to nominal unloaded voltage level). However, unless your system is subject to large periods of time when it has no power, you might want HP to look at it to see if there is some other problem with your specific unit. Good luck.
