i have an ibm rt running 4.3bsd as a yp domain master server. my problem is that yp client hp's can't find this yp server at boot time. we also have yp client suns (also in the same domain) which DO find the rt, and boot properly. if i start up ypserv on one of the hp's that are running, the hp that is trying to boot, will find THAT machine, and conitinue to boot. i can then use the ypset command to change the server to the rt, and that works fine. however, with ypserv running on one of the hp's, the sun's screw up! it seems as though hp's need to find another hp running ypserv at boot time, even though yp was set up (using ypinit) to use the rt. i get the "no yp server found for domain <domain_name> " on the hp at boot time, until i start up ypserv on one of the other hp's we have running in the same domain. has anyone run into a similiar problem, or have any suggestions on how to straighten out this mess?? -dave laplant (laplant@engr.wisc.edu) university of wisconsin
