i have a hp 2623a terminal and havent had any luck getting it hooked up to
a modem due to the fact i have no manual for it. does anyone have an extra
manual for one of these terminals for more importantly a diagram for a modem
cable?

I don't have a manual, but I do know 1) HP sells a cable that you can
use to hook up a modem and 2) the 2nd and 3rd pins are swapped.

Good Luck

Although the HP 2623A is no longer in production, the manuals are still in
print, and are:

   02623-90001 Users Manual $ 16.00
   02622-90008 Reference Manual 23.00
   02622-90007 Service Manual 30.00
    5957-9918 Cabling Manual 17.00

The datacomm pinouts are as follows. This also describes the HP 13222N or
5061-4215 U.S. modem cables. Only those lines marked with an asterisk (*)
are generally needed for use with port selectors or real modems.
