[comp.sys.hp] Error message from fbackup

louxj@jacobs.cs.orst.edu (John W. Loux) (08/25/89)

I'm having a problem (?) using fbackup for nightly incremental backups. I'm
having no serious problems --- the backup works fine --- but I constantly (every
night) get the following error message from cron:

fbackup(1004): session begins on Fri Aug 25 01:30:01 1989
fbackup(1506): could not stat file grmd
fbackup(3212): writing volume 1 to the output file -

Cron runs the following shell script for root:

/etc/fbackup -u5f - -g /usr/adm/fbackupfiles/graphfile -I /usr/adm/fbackupfiles/incr.index | tcio -o /dev/rct/c0

The graphfile is this:

i /users
i /usr/adm
i /usr/mail
i /usr/preserve
i /usr/spool

Grmd is listed in the file system as:

-r-sr-sr-x 1 daemon sys 40972 Feb 17 1989 /usr/lib/grmd

I'm running a multi-user HP9000/350 with HP-UX 6.5 and no-one on the system
(typically) when fbackup runs.

I suppose it's more of an irritant than anything, but it shouldn't (?) be
happening. I haven't been able to find the appropriate references in the
manuals, and I don't even know what grmd does (especially in conjunction with
fbackup).

If anyone could give me some pointers, I'd appreciate it.

John
