If someone can help me with this problem I'd be most grateful. We have an 840 in the office and a 360 at a remote site. We would like to connect the 840 and 360 together using HDB-UUCP via 37212A/B MODEMs. The problem is that I can't get uugetty to respond when it is ``attached'' to the modem line and has been instructed to wait for some input from the remote machine (using the -r option) before issuing a login prompt. Uugetty on the 360 appears to work OK when it hasn't been given the -r option, but removing this option doesn't help the 840. Whether the 840 dials the 360 or vice-versa nothing happens except that the remote site hangs up the connection when some input is sent to it. On the 360 [HP-UX 6.5, 37212A MODEM] the inittab entry is 01:2:respawn:/usr/lib/uucp/uugetty -r -t 120 /dev/ttyd01 1200 and the modem devices are crw-rw-rw- 1 root other 1 0x090001 Aug 14 15:11 cua01 crw-rw-rw- 1 root other 1 0x090001 Aug 15 16:05 cul01 crw--w--w- 1 uucp root 1 0x090004 Aug 14 17:28 tty01 crw--w--w- 1 uucp other 1 0x090000 Aug 14 15:11 ttyd01 On the 840 [HP-UX 3.1, 37212B MODEM] the inittab entry is 01:2:respawn:/usr/lib/uucp/uugetty -r -t 15 /dev/tty0p1 1200 and the device files are crw-rw-rw- 2 root other 1 0x100001 Aug 12 1988 cua0p1 crw-rw-rw- 2 root root 1 0x100001 Aug 16 11:04 cul0p1 crw--w--w- 2 uucp software 1 0x200001 Aug 14 18:29 tty0p1 Many thanks vic -- Victor Gavin Zengrange Limited vic@zen.co.uk Greenfield Road ..!mcvax!ukc!zen.co.uk!vic Leeds England +44 532 489048 LS9 8DB
