I've been using a Scanjet Plus scanner for several months now. It works fine except for the variable resolution. There's a debate going on over the alleged "up to 1500" DPI resolution. I've tested this feature fairly extensively. It seems that it is NOT TRUE 1500 DPI resoultion but some form of interpolation. I've scanned several small files at high 1500x1500 resolution and blown them up in the Mac program Digital Darkroom. There does not seem to be any additional information in these files beyond what shows up in files scanned at 300 DPI. Is this true? Has HP deceived by advertising this as a 1500 DPI scanner when all it is is a 300 DPI scanner? I would like to see an answer on this from HP personnel in the scanner division.
