Recently we encountered a problem with cron(1M) on a HP 9000/835 running HP-UX 3.01: a message "MAXRUN (25) procs reached" was logged and the daemon tried to reschedule the request. That did not work too well (the job was time-sensitive) and so I have the following questions: Is there a way to increase the limit? Where are the cron restrictions documented? What is a reasonable number of processes with which cron can cope, and are there other ways (e.g. other schedulers) to manage periodic scheduled tasks? Is the cron log file cleared periodically or should I handle that myself? Thank you, dbm -- Jame Tolissen for President!
