Anyone, We're trying to use a 98625A (or B) High-Speed HP-IB Interface on our HP9000/320 workstation running HP-UX 6.2, but it doesn't work. Specifically, the open call on the raw device fails: "No such device or address". The raw device is as follows: crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 21 0x0f1f00 Mar 28 1989 /dev/hpib_raw.0f The interface did work under HP-UX 6.0.1. We have tried altering the interrupt levels and switching the interface to "slow" mode, but to no avail. HP's Configuration Reference Manual's section on the 98625A (Page A-392) says, "... not recommended for use as a Device I/O Library (DIL) HP-IB interface," but it doesn't say why or any more than that. Can anyone help? I too am interested in this, since I run a 320 under 6.2 and am considering purchasing a 98625A card. Does anyone out there have this card working as the primary boot device interface on a 320 under 6.2??? -- Mark C. For low speed, it should be 0x07____. Other than that, just check /etc/conf/gen for the proper drivers. Hope this helps, Thomas Gilg tomg@cv.hp.com

I presume you've reconfigured your kernel to include the hpib (DIL) driver after updating? Paul Stoecker

Does anyone out there have this > card working as the primary boot device interface on a 320 under 6.2??? There should be no problem using the '625B as a boot device. I think the 98625B is what you what to buy though, not the 'A'. I think the discussion here relates to the use of the card for instrument control using the DIL (Device I/O Library) facilities.
