I recently read in PC Week (Sept 25 1989 issue) pg 44 that HP is releasing a new product called LM/X. From PC Week - "HP LAN Manager/X, its Unix implementation of Microsoft Corp.'s LAN Manager, and pledged to ship the software for its HP9000 Series minicomputers by the end of the year." What exactly is this new product, any "special" or otherwise interesting features in this product ?? Will it be bundled with the next OS release after 7.0 or will this be a separate product ??

The LAN Manager/X provides MS-DOS and OS/2 clients with access to the UNIX file system and spooler. The clients run the real Microsoft redirector and the emulation occurs at the UNIX side of the connection. The server includes many LAN Manager extensions that were not available in MSNet. HP's product will operate over TCP/IP. JimC jrc@hpbsrl
