[comp.sys.hp] gcc/g++ on the HP 9000/800. Does it exist?

Hi Everyone!

For the second time (got only "me too!" answers to the first go-round):

Has anyone ported gcc and g++ to the HP Precision Archetecture (RISC)
environment on the HP 9000/800 series running HPUX????

Is anyone working on it?

Please reply by email and I will post replies if interest warrants.
Thank you for your support!

Good news, bad news.

Good news: There will be a g++/gcc generating code for the HPPA
architecture.

Bad News: It's for the 4.3 BSD Unix OS (ported to the 800 by U. of Utah).
Most probably will not run on HP-UX without a few modifications for calling
conventions, et. al.

You might want to contact Mike Tiemann (tiemann@stanford.edu, the last that
I heard of), who is the creator of g++ and is porting it to HPPA.
