Hi ... I'm new to the HP 3000 environment and am wondering if there
are any utilities that could include a *good* editor (p/d or shareware)
or any other utilites that would be useful. I'm used to mostly PC
environments, and the MPE V environment just doesn't seem to have much
flexibility. This older-type architecture (record lengths et al.) has
much to be desired... but one works with what one has.
On a sidenote, has anyone used, or has heard of, a product called
Speedware? It's a 4GL for this machine.
Out of curiosity, what is the chip-set of the HP3000 GX micro series?
HP Proprietary?
Thanks for any info...
Dan.

I highly recommend that you contact INTEREX (the International Association of Hewlett-Packard Computer Users) at (408) 738-4848 to find out how to get a current copy of their excellent contributed library tape(s). Some of the more valuable HP3000 utilities I have used over the years have come from them. Dan Siler HP Lake Stevens Instrument Division

I'm used to mostly PC I can tell you about an editor - HP has recently released a full-screen editor called HPEDIT. Contact your local HP sales rep for more info. For other utilities, try laying your hands on the Interex contributed s/w tape(s). Interex can be reached at: Interex, 680 Almanor Ave, PO box 3439, Sunnyvale, CA 94088-3439. (408)738-4848. I'm used to mostly PC Make sure to look at the MPEX product from Vesoft. It greatly extends the capabilities of the MPE command interpreter and more. Also make sure to look into the HP-specific publications like 'Interact'. Good articles and lots of HP-specific adverts too.
