Re: Thanks and Results Summary (full disk backup)(mystery box) Thanks to those who responded to my 2 recent queries, regarding full disk backup (including non-file portions of HPUX) and use of a data-capturing mystery box. Summary of results: Re: full backup ... Most people felt that the imapge backup was reliable (very reliable, in fact). And that sounds less likely to result in bullet holes in my feet that trying to move the non-file area into a file, etc. Probably will make 3 ... Re: mystery box this is on a very old HP system (pre-UNIX) at a client site, and the printers use a non-standard [by today's standards :-) ] interface. The original posting was vague, as no one had at that time told me much ... the hope was to capture the data in some manner (tape, etc.) without in any way disturbing or altering the existing system. I can not report a solution ... the project has been "reformulated" and as a result my part of the project has been clearly delineated as coding exactly as if I were running the existing printer. (Apparently my questions mashed toes ...) Thanks again to all of you for the assistance.
