It seems that our LaserJet II has an "extra" internal resident font in it ... can anyone explain what is happening? Occasionally we use the LJII for fixed pitch printing. I have noticed that we sometimes get a "skinny" 10cpi versus a "full" 10cpi Courier. The skinny one is about 9.2cpi. It is definitely a fixed pitch font. The manuals talk about 3 internal fonts (Courier 10cpi, Courier Bold 10cpi, Line Printer 16.66cpi). It would seem that I have a 4th ... I tend to try to think up reasons for existence of such unusual occurrences -- my theory is that the 9.2cpi is to allow a "full 10 cpi line" to print on the LJII in spite of the left and right margin "dead zones". My concern is how to control the use of this font, in terms of escape codes or whatever, so that I know when I am getting it, when I am not getting it, etc. Thanks for any assistance. By the way, I did power cycle the LJII and so this is not some soft font that was downloaded long ago -- besides, it is a fixed pitch font and all of our soft fonts are proportional. Also, we have no font cartridges.
