[comp.sys.hp] Seeking Software for Old HP Products

louxj@jacobs.cs.orst.edu (John W. Loux) (12/16/89)

Yo,

I'm interested in finding any and all sources of application software
for the old 9800 series calculators/computers --- especially any
surveying software for the 9830(!). I'd also be interested in HP
(PRO)BASIC (Rocky Mountain BASIC) and HP Pascal (workstation and/or
HP-UX) software for the HP-9000 series 200/300. Any version of any of
the operating systems is ok. While I'm at it, Series 80 (Tech BASIC)
for any model Series 80 machine would be welcome too. Uh, and IPC
stuff too.

In other words, I'd like any and all information regarding available
software for ANY old HP programmable calculator/computer, current
hand-held product, or work-station, including HP-developed, third-party
developed, g-job, scribbled notes, etc. I'll take actual software or
names of persons who have such software.

For those interested, I have somewhat of an archive of HP materials and would
like to make it more comprehensive. If you have anything like or related to
what I've described (including hardware and manuals) drop me a note.

Thanks,

John W. Loux

How far back do you want to go? In addition to our series 800 and 300
"state-of-the-art" stuff, we still support BCS on an HP1000/E!!

(OK, I know most of you never heard of BCS...it pre-dated RTE, and
uses paper-tape for mass storage -- yes, we are obliged even to
support paper tape! :-(

How about HP-Algol? (we ported that from RTE-II to RTE-6/VM in order
to continue supporting hundreds of application programs!)

And we've got lots of HP150 software....

Problem with HP is that their machines never break! :-)
(We still have BCS-based machines on the manufacturing floor which
no-one wants to replace because they work so well... )
Arrrrgggg!!!!
